Friendship Chathams Bound

An old bird made its way out of Timaru’s port this morning bound for brighter shores. The Fokker F27 Friendship, which formerly flew the route between Wellington and the Chatham Islands, will soon have a new home at an aviation museum.  It has been hangered at Christchurch for some time and is being taken in pieces by the MV Baldur to the Chatham Islands Aviation Museum. The aircraft was donated to the museum by Air New Zealand. This section of the fuselage is the last piece to go and expected to reach the island on Saturday where it will be trucked to the museum.

    1. Not on scheduled services they didnt. Occasionally a chartered F27 was flown out there. I seen pictures of them sitting on the tarmac at CHT
